Recorded during the first two weeks of November, 2009, in Los Angeles with engineer/producer Ethan Allen; co-produced by Brant Bjork. On this new recording, Brant is joined by Giampaulo Farnedi (Brant Bjork & The Bros) on drums, and two Low Desert locals: Billy Cordell (Yawning Man) on bass and Brandon Henderson (Half Astro, Family Butcher) on guitar. Some artists and bands stay in a holding pattern their entire career. Others, live life on the edge and take the risk to live life at the next level of their musical mastery. On his ninth studio album, GODS & GODDESSES, Brant Bjork does just that like no other. The highly anticipated release of GODS & GODDESSES pulls off everything flawlessly while embarking upon the new surge, vision and reincarnation of Brant Bjork's musical journey by adding to the set Billy Cordell of the esteemed Yawning Man. This finished product explodes any reductive notions of what constitutes Brant Bjork's sound and aesthetic. The varied influences here include, 70's rock, jazz and blues perfectly incorporated with sophistication, woven together into a seamless 32:00 minute, 8 track album, which resembles nothing so much as itself. GOD'S & GODDESSES music and lyrics serve to both construct and deconstruct a world around them. Like the words God and Goddesses, the songs are layered with a deep seated meaning and invite interpretation.
