Despite reflecting Chris Gunrup's often bleak worldview, the music is expansive and beautiful, marked by playing that's as much free jazz as rock - pure music without any showiness. The songs unfold slowly, without a traditional verse/chorus structure, spinning gauzy webs of shimmering mystery with their own inimitable dynamic of sinuous, swirling guitars; rich, ambient bass lines; crisp percussion and restrained, church-like, keyboard textures. The stately tempos suggest a room full of shadows desperately reaching out for intimacy, but never quite making the connection. The songs brim over with tension and more implied release than actual relief. Gunrup is known for his reluctance to talk about his process and prefers to let the music speak for itself and if 2015's Picture You was brighter, exploding outward to explore the limits of experience, Ambulance is much more intimate. The mix denser and darker, the instruments pressing closer, crowding each other, imploding inward to reconnoiter the uncharted distances that exist between us, even in life's most intimate moments. Sharing members with Sweden's psych forefathers Dungen, the album was recorded in just a few days in one tiny room at Stockhom's Buller & Bäng studio and delves into the hidden recesses of the heart, finding inner space to be just as expansive as the midnight sky.

Vinyl LP pressing. The New Barbarians were a rock band that played two concerts in Canada and eighteen shows across the United States in April and May 1979. One of which was in Oakland, Ca. In the Coliseum Arena where the Golden State Warriors have played, May 1979. In August 1979, the band also supported Led Zeppelin at the Knebworth Festival 1979. The group was formed and led by Rolling Stones and Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood, primarily to promote his latest LP Gimme Some Neck. The line-up included Rolling Stones member Keith Richards, bassist Stanley Clarke, former Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan, Rolling Stones confederate and saxophonist Bobby Keys and drummer Joseph Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters.[1] For the Knebworth show Clarke was replaced on short notice by bassist Phillip Chen, who had to learn all the songs in one day. The band played a mix of classic rock & roll, R&B, blues and country music, along with Ron Wood solo material and Jagger/Richards songs. Wood sang lead on most numbers (with Richards, McLagan and Clarke providing back-up vocals), as well as playing guitar, pedal steel, harmonica and saxophone.

The band relocated to northern California for the sessions, recording on the side of a mountain overlooking the foggy Pacific Ocean and channeling the natural majesty of their surroundings into the album's eight sprawling tracks. Having spent the prior two years touring relentlessly, the CRB were road-tested and in peak form to capture their kinetic chemistry and immersive sound, which Uncut Magazine called, "... a celebration of how American musical traditions can be at once honored and psychedelically expanded." The album kicks off with "Narcissus Soaking Wet," a psychedelic toe-tapper that marks Robinson's first co-write with keyboardist Adam MacDougall. It touches on everything from Dylan and Parliament Funkadelic to psych rock and Chicago rhythm and blues. "Ain't It Hard But Fair" calls to mind the soulful Americana of The Band, while "Oak Apple Day" is a mediation on life in the CRB, and "Forever As The Moon" came together in a stream of consciousness between The CRB's lead guitarist Neal Casal and Robinson. "Leave My Guitar Alone" was a song Robinson had been sitting on for nearly 15 years, but only once he presented it to the rest of the band did it roar to life in a way that had eluded him for more than a decade.

"Steady State," with it's gorgeous ebb and flow, has echoes of The Notorious Byrd Brothers' astral jangle, while "I Was Beautiful When I Was Alive" unexpectedly curves off from dreamlike beginnings into a semi-acoustic/motorik outro, sonically replacing the steady beat of the German autobahn with the vast open skies of the Pacific Coast Highway.

Reissue of classic 1995 album

Vinyl LP pressing. For over 30 years the reigning kings of punk rock have remained relevant by continuing to push the boundaries of their music, lyrics and good taste in a way that's as endearing as it is infectious. For that reason it's remarkably apt that the band's latest LP First Ditch Effort is also their thirteenth because ominous black clouds hang over this collection of songs that see frontman/bassist Fat Mike exploring self-loathing and mortality in a more raw and honest way than he ever has before. Despite the fact that NOFX helped invent melodic punk music (alongside their longtime peers such as Bad Religion and Rancid), they've never made the same album twice and First Ditch Effort sees them continuing to push their own musical boundaries. The band also prove that they haven't lost their innate ability to craft a hook on First Ditch Effort as the conspiracy theory-rich "Sid And Nancy" and self-reflective rocker "I Don't Like Me Anymore" are two of the band's catchiest tracks to date. Fat Mike also credits producer Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Alkaline Trio) for helping make these songs so dynamic. Seriousness and somberness also lie at the core of First Ditch Effort, a fact that's most evident in Mike's musical eulogy to No Use For A Name's frontman Tony Sly ("I'm So Sorry Tony") as well the apocalyptic closer "Generation Z" which features guest vocals from Mike's 11-year-old daughter Darla. It's First Ditch Effort's darkest moments that help make it the perfect soundtrack to both a fresh start as well as the end of the world.

Deniz Tek felt the need to strike while the iron was hot and began work on
Mean Old Twister in 2013 just as Detroit album was being released.

Recorded between Radio Birdman tours, the new album captures the live
experience with some new sonic textures added to the mix. Mean Old Twister
was recorded with the same band which appeared on Detroit. Drummer Ric
Parnell is best known for his work in Spinal Tap and Atomic Rooster. Bassist
Bob Brown has been working with Deniz since the Australian tour supporting
Taking It To The Vertical, Deniz's first solo album. Radio Birdman cohort
Rob Younger stepped in to supervise the mix, adding another sharp ear to the
process. Twelve songs, twelve different emotions. Slashing guitars are the
theme of this trip. Burned Black sets the tone right at the start. The
shimmering surf instrumental Comanche winds down the first side. The
autobiographical Stonsey country ballad Table For One is the lone quiet
moment. Free At Last, an acoustic folk song is the only diversion from the
electric guitar attack on the second side.

Baby Woodrose is an iconic band on the Danish psych scene who released their debut album Blows Your Mind back in 2001. Long before psychedelic music had a revival frontman Lorenzo Woodrose and his band came up with their own mix of psych, garage and stoner rock which they have refined during the years. The new album is called Freedom and is due out September 16th 2016 on Bad Afro Records. Freedom is the 7th album by Baby Woodrose and is released more than four years after the previous album Third Eye Surgery came out in 2012. In the meantime Lorenzo has been busy with his other band Spids Nogenhat who gained a lot of popularity in Denmark and won two Danish Grammies for the album "Kommer Med Fred". Best rock album of the year and Best live band of the year. The title Freedom reflects on the current state of our society and how it affects us all. Consciously or not. The album introduces the modern slave song. Lorenzo Woodrose: "The inspiration for the album came from the title track, a cover we have been playing around with for about a year. Mostly known for the version Richie Havens improvised on Woodstock in 1969, it is actually a much older song, known as a gospel tune, a negro spiritual or a "slave song". This expression gave me the idea to write modern day slave songs, so all the songs on the new album deal with mind control, brainwash, hamster wheels, slavery and oppression". All Baby Woodrose albums have a different vibe and this time there has been an analogue approach to recording the nine songs. The whole album is recorded and mixed on tape, givng it a very rockband live-in-the-studio type of feel. This means no cut and paste and a minimal amount of overdubs. The album is produced by Anders Onsberg and Baby Woodrose in the STC studio in Copenhagen and mastered by Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence. Heavy Psych Sounds is proud to announce it will issue the new album from Fatso Jetson this fall ahead of their upcoming European tour. It's been six long years since the Californian desert rock progenitors released their last proper full-length. 2010's Archaic Volumes answered the go-anywhere-at-any-time intensity of earlier records like 1995's Stinky Little Gods and 1997's Power of Three with a refined sense of groove, always bringing in a sense of experimentalism to their foundation of heavy, punk-infused rock. Since that album came out, Fatso Jetson have hardly been idle. They've toured Europe multiple times over, including with Yawning Man, in which Fatso honcho Mario Lalli also plays, and released splits with Yawning Man, and one with Farflung that marked their first collaboration with Heavy Psych Sounds. Mario Lalli says about this new album: "This record represents one of the toughest years in my life. To be honest, I barely got it done. It's a very important record because I'm in a way coming out of a long troubled period in my life, and with lots of love and help from my friends and family I got to a place where I could get back to music and express some of this stuff. The band spent three days at Rancho de la Luna with Mathias Schneeberger recording and co-producing and writing on some pretty rough ideas. Dino, my son, wrote a lot of the heavier, more angular, intense music, and I was coming from a more melodic, dark vibe. seemed to all come together. Larry and Tony both wrote music on the album and one of my life-saving buddies Sean Wheeler collaborated on two songs I'm very proud of. Also was awesome having my daughter, Olive Lalli, singing on half the tracks. The title of the album is straightforward and the record, the contrary action, to faith without works is dead. We are stoked to do the record with Gabriele [Fiori] from Heavy Psych Sounds. He's been so supportive of us for years now, a good friend. That's how this should be."

As the singer and bassist of his band Sodom, Angelripper has been instrumental in keeping the ´German Thrash Metal' quality seal on the international map since 1982, proving with his uncompromising songs and ambitioned lyrics that he likes to think outside the box of his musical genre. At the same time, Sodom have always felt committed to their own history and, along with the courageous exploration of new territories, have never lost sight of their band's typical sound. So it comes as no surprise that their latest album Decision Day is a successful mélange of a fresh, contemporary thrash metal attitude and the group's traditional fortes. "The vocals on Decision Day occasionally remind me of our Persecution Mania phase," says Tom Angelripper, "but the songs go much deeper, musically as well as in terms of their lyrics."
